STEM Complex
Complete Laboratory Airflow Control

Burlington, VT

The University of Vermont was facing a crucial moment in its history. The UVM Alumni Foundation stated that it must, “commit to a promising future as a public research institution or risk falling behind.” This “promising future” became a reality with its new STEM complex where we installed complete laboratory airflow control systems.

The resulting 278,000 square-foot facility consists of 3 buildings: a discovery building, a new state-of-the-art research and laboratory building, and an innovation building. It is the university’s largest construction project and houses laboratories for chemistry, physics and engineering, mathematics and computer science classrooms, teaching/faculty labs and other support spaces. The controls chosen for “Basis of Design” by UVM utilize time-proven equipment and control strategies installed at the university.
